Disney on Ice - Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey

This weekend, my family had the wonderful privilege of taking in Opening Night of a production of Feld Entertainment's Disney on Ice - Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey.

As a Feld Family Activator, we also had the delightful opportunity to meet a couple of VERY special folks before the show!

I was SURE my kids would go NUTS - because after all -
This was Mickey and Minnie MOUSE!

Every time the kids ask for a Happy Meal, I ask them if they'd rather have a Happy Meal, or $5 (each) towards their Disney Fund for our next big family vacation...

Disney Fund ALWAYS wins.
Always!
As you can see from the picture below - D was NOT having any of this special meet & greet...
(Even though when we were walking in to the Meet & Greet - he saw them & said 'Hey! I remember those guys!' - CUTEST THING EVER!!

Such a bummer...If they only knew how lucky they were right?

Regardless - they were both super excited for the show...Who wouldn't be!?!

But, about 15 minutes into the show ~ during his beloved Lion King...

We lost him...Fast asleep...lulled into never never land by the music of Disney...

This one however, she ate it up! She was laughing and clapping and smiling and singing...

Easily her favorite was the Peter Pan act...She LOVED seeing them fly...I know Buddy would have loved it too - had be been AWAKE for it! This was THE Disney on Ice show for both girls AND boys...Mickey and Minnie Mouse, The Lion King, Lilo & Stitch, Peter Pan...

I was so tempted to purchase tickets for just he and I and take him to an afternoon show while it was still in town, but...Minnesota weather didn't cooperate too much this weekend for doing much of anything -

A couple of feet of fresh snow will do that I suppose -

A great night out with my not-so-little girl though -

I think he's over it, having woken up just in time to wave goodbye to the cast of characters...
Although he is adamant that Peter Pan was NOT there...Poor Kid...
Next time Buddy - Next time...
If you have a chance to take in Disney on Ice ~ Mickey & Minnie's Magical Journey - Do it!
It was a great family outing - even is someone did sleep through most of it...
Regardless - These are the events that dreams memories are made of -

Who can't use a Helping Hand?

According to Feeding America, approximately 5.7 million different people receive emergency food assistance from the organization in any given week.

You might remember, that I've joined forces with other local bloggers a couple of times over this past year to help raise awareness and fight this dreadful epidemic...

And now, I'm pleased to be a teeny tiny part of an even bigger awareness campaign...

To raise awareness about the national issue of hunger, Hamburger Helper® is partnering with GRAMMY® Award-winning singer, songwriter and actor Tim McGraw to help Feeding America deliver millions of meals to local food banks through the Show Your Helping HandTM campaign. McGraw will lend his voice to the campaign through a Public Service Announcement which can be viewed right here!

You can support the worthy campaign by submitting codes from specially marked boxes of Hamburger Helper at http://www.showyourhelpinghand.com/ or by logging on to make a donation. Hamburger Helper has already donated more than half a million dollars and will contribute up to an additional $100,000 to Feeding America through this program.

Don´t think one code will make a difference? The 17 cents Hamburger Helper donates per code is enough for Feeding America to deliver one meal to a local food bank.

You can also win an autographed copy of Tim McGraw´s "Southern Voice" CD by visiting http://www.showyourhelpinghand.com/.

Thanks to the fine folks at Hamburger Helper & MyBlogSpark, I have a prize pack that includes a box of Hamburger Helper skillet meals, a Hamburger Helper foam "Helping Hand" and a copy of Tim McGraw´s "Southern Voice" CD. In addition, Hamburger Helper will make a $10 donation to the Show Your Helping HandTM campaign on your behalf!!!

Would you like to win this prize pack?

Simply leave a comment here and be entered to win!

For bonus entries... (Please leave an additional comment for each thing you do!)

Christmas Cards from Shutterfly!

I had SUCH a hard time narrowing down what to use for our family Christmas Cards this year!

First of all, you have to get just the right photo...and narrowing down just one...or two or three or four (photos) to use isn't easy...(at least not for me!!)
and then, how do you select just the right design?

Oh, decisions, decisions...

Call me crazy, but I typically order two different designs to send out...
The one I ordered today is (I think) my favorite of the 100's and 100's of choices...

Staying in and going all out ~ review & give away

Wanchai Ferry and Macaroni Grill through MyBlogSpark recently asked me about my first date...
um...
I tried thinking back to my first date with my hubby...

Is it bad that I don't remember exactly when it was?
~ Do you remember your first date with your partner?

I mean really...We met in a group and went out as a group...

in fact...I when I really really think about it - I think our first REAL date was going to be a Final Five hockey game with our home state and his Alma mater the UND Fighting Sioux playing here in town...and then all of a sudden a bunch of friends were coming along - that was typical back then!

Everybody goes - or nobody goes!
HA HA!

I did some digging around to see if I could find any pictures of us from around our first date era, but a recent computer crash has me and my photo collection discombobulated...

but I did discover these - which I am confident were taken within the first year of us meeting and falling in love...

Here we are - ten and a half years later - I relish the quiet time with my hubby.
We don't get a lot of quiet time around these here parts...
We also don't get out much - so when I was asked to 'stay in and go all out' & have date night at home, I jumped at the opportunity.
Restaurant inspired meals at home...
Does it get any better?

The thing is...I don't cook. Well, I do...but not very well and I do not find it enjoyable...

Imagine my surprise when I opened up the box to find everything I would need!

Well, almost everything...
I did have to take out some chicken breast, slice it into strips/cubes and fry it up in a pan for approximately 3 minutes...

Then I simply added the remaining packets one by one...
seasoning, creamy sauce, sun dried tomato!

So how did it taste?
We LOVED it!
The hubs said 'This is really good! I'd have this again!' - That's awesome! Now I can add another dish to my repertoire of 5 revolving things I make around here!

Not only was this quick and easy to prepare (20 minutes from start to finish!) but it really did taste awesome.

Rich in flavor and easily restaurant quality at home!
Have you tried any of the dry dinner kits from Wanchai Ferry or Macaroni Grill?
Now is your chance!
The kind folks at MyBlogSpark have generously offered to give one of the readers of Gust Gab their own Date Night Prize Pack! The prize pack includes one Wanchai Ferry dry dinner kit, one Macaroni Grill dry dinner kit, and a $25 Visa Gift Card that you can use to create a magical date night at home!!

If you are interested in staying in and going all out - simply leave me a comment! Tell me about your first date...or maybe your favorite date? Or how long it's been since you've HAD a date?

One winner will be chosen via random.org on Sunday, November 1st.
Bonus entries?
Like my new page on Facebook, then come back and leave me another comment saying that you did (if you already like me - leave me a comment saying so!
Following this blog will net you a 2nd bonus entry - again, leave a comment so random.org can do it's thing!

White Glove Cleaning & Restoration...A Review

Don't judge me...

So - this month marks nine years since we bought our house.
Nine. Years.

That's about 5 years longer than we thought we'd be here...

Turns out time flies...especially when you are having fun!

So much fun, that we just never got around to getting our carpets professionally cleaned. Oh, we've talked about it. We've talked about replacing the carpet too...
But with a couple of little kids around...and a 93# dog...

Well...I said don't judge me.

Taking advantage of a recent groupon - I got a deal from these guys -

White Glove Cleaning & Restoration.

What did I have to lose?

The groupon was for 2 rooms, up to 500 square feet, so I planned on doing our two main living areas...

Dear Lord.
This. is. embarrassing.
(You aren't judging me are you?)
This is the *during* shot ~ Seriously...I cannot believe I'm even showing you this.

Our house isn't large, so I was thinking that that would cover my two main carpeted areas with the groupon. Then I got to thinking about it - you can't possibly do the carpet and not do the stairs right? Especially stairs in a split entry house...And after seeing how Mike did on my living room carpet, let's face it, a good 10 shades lighter...

I decided to have him keep working...

On to the stairs...(These ran me $5 each)
Before.
After.
Amazing isn't it?
Seriously.
Have you been thinking about having your carpets cleaned?
Can I recommend Mike from White Glove Cleaning?
Visit their website here or their facebook page here...
Not only did he do an AMAZING job. A. MAZING!!
But guess what else?
He told me that he started this company 17 years ago - when he was just an 18 year old kid!Family owned and operated.
I LOVE doing business with family run companies!!
If you are in the market for having your carpets cleaned - Please consider this company...
** I was not paid for this review. These thoughts and opinions are mine, and sadly, so are the photos! In fact, I not only used my groupon but also spent a couple hundred more dollars to have my stairs done, some deodorizer added to help eliminate the doggie scent and who all knows what else **
All I know is, the carpet not only LOOKS different, it FEELS different too!
Why did we WAIT so long? ACK!
I think this is going to be a yearly thing from now on...

We had our stairs going downstairs done too -although with zero natural light in our house - it's impossible to tell...(and no, the walls are not pink...what is WITH that lighting! sheesh!)

While we don't love the blue carpet - it does hide some of the everyday traffic a little better than the upstairs...
And on a side note -
While you are here...
Any thoughts on what to do with this goofy space? It previously held our desk/computer, etc - but since our computer died and we moved out all of the furniture for the carpet cleaning crew...
We're debating what to do with this area....

It sits to the left of our fireplace...

And the sectional that sits opposite the fireplace actually fits in this space...but it looks rather large and well, stupid...there...
So what should go there? A couple of chairs and a nice end table for a reading nook?
The little tikes kitchen and play food along with some of the larger toys we have around here?
What would you do with this space if you were stuck in this house this was your home?
